The term design has acquired increasingly negative connotations in recent years due to the lack of a popular tradition in the culture of design and, above all, due to those designers and major manufacturers who offer pieces of lesser quality at impossible prices.
Contemporary design has been dominated by spectacularity, technical virtuosity or attempts at originality that ignore what should be its most elementary aim: thinking of use, of the space to be occupied by an item of furniture, a lamp, an object... and of the qualities and quality that will make it long-lasting.
This project aims at presenting a selection of products chosen with criteria based on their functionality, simplicity and (almost) unquestionable beauty. The proposal is totally subjective and remains open to its future evolution towards other market segments or countries. We want to share the emotion of good design.
In the context of a vast global market it is quite hard to define the right value of a product according to its quality, functionality or durability. At first sight, many pieces may look similar. Time, though, will tell where quality materials and good manufacturing can be found.
Designers and producers should develop clear concepts and aims, making sensible quality proposals that also respect the environment, where the raw materials to be transformed into enduring objects of beauty can be found.
We want everyone to get good value for money with prices adjusted to the products we offer. For that, we are making a great effort in the search and selection of the pieces. We aim at offering the quality of honest design.
A long crafts tradition and the use of high quality raw materials lie at the roots of the best Scandinavian design. A new generation of designers and manufacturers have managed to gather together the best features of their design culture and redefine their proposals with new materials, techniques, ideas and forms adapted to our current lifestyle.
The legacy of the great masters of yesterday and the new talent of today's designers merge in a selection in constant evolution. Of course, as in any other place, there is in Scandinavia good and bad design. This is why we only present products based on solid criteria of functionality, simplicity and beauty. This is, for us, good, honest design.
